Vocabulary

  • Topsmead State Forest – A state forest in Litchfield, CT. The estate was once the summer residence and farm of Edith Morton Chase. Topsmead is a short for “Top of the Meadow”.
  • Wolf Trees – Trees left along the edge of a boundary or for shade in an old pasture. They grew with enough space and sun to have extended branches and large shorter trunk, and now may even be found in a regrown forest.
