Hammonasset Beach State Park, a Park for All Seasons

Hammonasset Beach State Park is best known for its summer beach days, but it is a park with so much to offer year round. From quiet winter shorelines to vibrant sunsets, wildlife, and ever changing water views, Hammonasset’s beauty shines in every season.

We invite you to share photographs that capture the diversity and natural wonder of Hammonasset throughout the year. Submissions may include scenes of the beach, sunsets, wildlife, water, landscapes, and other seasonal views of the park.

All submitted photos will be reviewed by a committee. Selected images will be those that best reflect the beauty, diversity, and character of the park across all seasons.

Please review the rules carefully before submitting your photos.

Contest Rules

• Absolutely no people or parts of people may appear in the photo
• No AI generated images
• Maximum of two photos per photographer per season
• Photos must be taken during the current calendar year
• Photos must be taken by the entrant
• Photos must be taken legally and ethically, with no disturbance or damage to the environment. This includes, but is not limited to, no baiting of wildlife, no moving rocks, and no creating unnatural formations, etc.
• Please follow all park rules at all times, including staying off protected dunes and restricted areas

Optional technical guidelines (recommended):

• High resolution images suitable for print and digital use
• JPEG or PNG format preferred

Photo Use and Release

By entering the contest, you grant permission to Friends of Hammonasset and Meigs Point Nature Center to use submitted photos for promotional purposes, including but not limited to social media, websites, printed materials, and marketing communications. Use is royalty free and without compensation.

By submitting a photo, you also acknowledge that images shared online may be copied, shared, or downloaded by others.

All photos will be selected by committee. Decisions are final.

Deadlines and Awards

Seasonal submission deadlines are midnight on:

• March 21
• June 21
• September 21
• December 21

One winner will be selected per season.

Winners will receive their choice of a Friends of Hammonasset or Meigs Point Nature Center cap, or a commemorative pin. Prizes must be picked up at Meigs Point Nature Center during regular hours.
