Docents:
(Ages 18 and up): Docents are an extremely valuable resource to the nature center and allow us to accommodate as many school groups as we do each year. Our docents range from those with years of experience in environmental science, to avid birders, and even those who have recently discovered their love of nature.
Volunteer/Docent Duties: Our volunteers can choose the activities that interest them the most. Duties include animal care (such as feeding/watering animals, cleaning exhibits, etc.), assisting with public programs (joining us on school field trips and assisting with activities such as beach seining and canoe trips in the summer), and greeting (welcoming the public to the nature center and answering any questions they may have). We are always looking for ways to incorporate your knowledge and hope that you learn a lot in your time here with us too.
If you are interested in volunteering with us please call ahead to the nature center (203-245-8743) and then stop by to pick up a volunteer application. Thank you so much for your interest in helping the nature center and we hope to see you soon!
