Friends of Hammonasset

Friends of Hammonasset is a “not for profit” 501(c)(3) volunteer organization, working in cooperation with State and local park management and the Friends of Connecticut State parks. The purpose of the organization is to provide environmental education, preserve the integrity of the park’s natural resources, and serve as an advocate for the park.

Friends of Hammonasset accomplishes these goals through education, advocacy and promotion and relies solely on memberships and donations.

Entirely run by volunteers, Friends of Hammonasset welcomes your talents, skills, time and passion to better the park and all it has to offer.

Monetary donations from the Friends of Hammonasset allow the Meigs Point Nature Center to purchase small but essential supplies such as animal food, educational materials, and craft supplies. Ranger Russ Miller coordinates with the Friends of Hammonasset and other private companies and non-profit groups for donations of larger equipment such as computers and printers, a copier, a flat-screen monitor, and the Nature Center van and trailer.
