Meet the Northern Water Snake

  • Water snakes find their food by following the movement of ripples across a pond.
  • Water snakes must spend a good part of their day out of the water. This is when their predators catch them.
  • Water snakes have smooth belly scales and rough, or keeled, back scales.
  • Snakes can’t blink because they do not have eyelids.
