Vocabulary
- Hunter wasps – members of the insect order Hymenoptera that capture prey, usually insects, to feed to their larvae. They will construct some form of nest, for example digging a hole, in which they hide the prey. They will then lay their eggs, with the insect prey providing food for the larvae once hatched. Different wasps prey on different insects.
The yellow flower seen on this walk was Woodland Sunflower (Helianthus divaricatus)
